1990-2024 Past Programming We are deeply rooted in Montreal’s performing arts milieu. We have a rich history of works which challenge the status quo, bringing cultural diversity to centre stage. Through our productions and paratheatrical activities, we seek to challenge people’s perspectives by presenting works that tackle global issues with resonant local impacts. Since our inception in 1981 we have presented dozens of productions and hosted hundreds of events on everything from the deadly industrial disaster in Bhopal, India to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Occupied Palestine. Recent Productions 2020’s 2025 – Voices of Freedom The second iteration of 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆 titled Voices of Freedom. 2024 -Two Birds One Stone Rimah Jabr, a Muslim Palestinian, and Natasha Greenblatt, a Jewish Canadian, come together as co-writers in Two Birds One Stone, a heartfelt and charged conversation. It delves into the complexities of privilege, and reflects on the search for home and freedom. 2024 – Monologues for Dialogue As part of the Staging Freedom Season, Teesri Duniya Theatre presents the first iteration of 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆 2025- Keffiyeh/Made in China A collection of 10 Palestinian short plays bound together in an unfolding story, enacted by five actors playing multiple characters, exploring how even the most intimate relationships and everyday occurrences subvert ordinary life under colonization and occupation. 2024 – The Chemical Valley Project A breathtaking blend of documentary-theatre, innovative projection design, a charismatic script and a playful solo-performance engage and implicate audiences in The Chemical Valley Project. 2024 – Boal in Montreal Come witness the outcome of MBC Productions and Teesri Duniya Theatre’s 𝐁𝐎𝐀𝐋 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩! Since September, our talented cohort has been hard at work […] 2023 – Tribes! (No Matter What) Tribes! (No Matter What) is an unrelenting interrogation written for these times when people seem to have forgotten the lessons learned from wars. We are generally treating each other with less kindness every day…Why does it take a war to make us rediscover our civility? 2023 – Counter Offence Set in 90’s Montreal, Counter Offence tells the story of Shazia, an Indo-Quebecois woman who finds herself caught in an abusive marriage with Shapoor, an Iranian man grappling with complex parental problems, and challenges of immigration. 2022 – Psycho 6 Psycho 6 was developed in Teesri Duniya Theatre’s Fireworks program. It follows the journey of K, a young man who has been in and out of foster homes and youth centres since the age of 9. His broken home, fiery temper, and financial destitution have all led him down a path of increasingly more dangerous criminal activities. 2022 – Meet Me The Live Action Theatre Project, in collaboration with Teesri Duniya Theatre, presents the world premiere of Meet Me, a branching narrative, audience-interactive theatre experience. It explores dating, cancel culture, consent in the post #metoo era and the multiplicity of pathways a person can take to find a resolution.
